Well I have finaly picked up the last of the three current consoles. I received a Playstation 3 last week from one of my sponsors and so far I have really enjoyed it. I have only been able to play NBA 08 on it so far, and well I still favor the Live series over this one. Too bad our local rental place didn’t have Live instock.
I really like how light the controllers are with the PS3 compared to the PS2. The fact that they have no batteries really keeps the weight down. Charging them with a usb cable is pretty handy as well.
One thing Sony should have did was include a component and HDMI cable. Sure they might cost ya $5 each, but c’mon now. There is no need for us a customer to have to go out there and pay for another cable just to get the HD signal.
I’ll be waiting to pick up MLB 08 The Show for my next game. I think it will be pretty cool, and hopefully I’ll get a few games a week in online!
If you have been waiting for a price drop on the Playstation 3, well the time has come! Sony announced last night that they have dropped the price for th 60GB PS3 console to $500 + tax. You will be saving $100 from the previous price.
Sony also announced that they will be coming out with a 80GB PS3 in August and that will cost ya $600. I don’t think many people are filling up there 60GB at this time so I don’t see why there is a need for a 80GB version.
Do you plan on purchasing one now with the price drop?
If you are like me, you are counting down the days for the new NCAA 2008 Football game to be released! I can’t fricking wait for it, and have been playing 2007 lately just to get my gamefeel back. Even though I suck online, I’m still having fun!
Sony has officially unveiled plans for PS3 firmware 1.80. This update looks to be the most significant yet. Here’s a breakdown of what to expect:
Full 1080p upscaling for DVDs, PS2 and PS1 games. With upscaling, there’s no need to throw away your old DVDs and PlayStation 2 games. The content will be converted to resolutions as high as 1080p, and will breathe new visual life into your old discs. DVD movies can only be upconverted using an HDMI connection.
PSP Remote Play via internet. Although this feature was supposedly included in a previous update, many were unable to have it properly run. This hopefully corrected feature will allow PSP users to watch and listen to content stored on the PS3 from any wi-fi connection in the world. PSP firmware 3.50 will be required.
DLNA media center connectivity. Media content stored on DLNA-enabled PCs and laptops can be shared and viewed on PS3 systems.
Print photos with Epson printers. Images stored on the PS3 hard drive can be printed using compatible printers.
This update hits European PS3s on May 24th. A worldwide release should arrive on or near that date.
For all you Nascar fans out there, we have just watched the Nascar 08 Trailer and all I can say is WOW! Game looks great, great graphics, and alot of different options for you to tweak your car so you get to the finish line in first! Take a look at the Nascar 08 Game Trailer and lets us know what you think!
The PlayStation3 firmware has updated to 1.7, which allows you to play your downloaded PS One titles on the console itself. Here’s what else got updated:
Your PSOne and PS2 controllers and accessories will now rumble.
You can now use PSOne save files from your PSP on the PS3
How is the new firmware working for you? We are reading reports that alot of PS One games are still not playing on the system. Let us know your thoughts!
Here it is, the trailer that everyone has been waiting for! Grand Theft AUTO IV is scheduled to be released in October so this trailer is going to have to hold some of you over until then. Or just keep playing the older GTA games.
What do you all think? I think it could have been better and shown some actual gameplay but it is so early they probably have a lot of things to work on for the gameplay part of the game. I do have to say that the buildings and textures do look pretty badass!
**If the trailer isn’t showing up for you in FireFox, please view it on Gamevideos.Com
East coast games get your joy on today! Great news for all of you with GameFly accounts (click here for your account), GameFly has now opened a new distribution center in Pittsburgh, PA! The center will now be able to get games up and down the east coast faster then ever.
Right now GameFly says they will only use the center for selected members so they can work out all the kinks of the new place. Once things get rolling they will go full force and begin adding more members to the center. GameFly will be putting out an official release in 1-2 months.
Holy cow, that is all I can really say about this game trailor for the new Colin McRae Dirt racing game due out on the PC, XBOX360, and Playstation3. This game looks a little like Motorstorm on the PS3 but wow it is impressive! Check out the trailor and let us know what you think!
According to Siliconera, who claim to have seen “various retailer release lists”, Electronic Arts will publish a new Simpsons game called The Simpsons Game, presumably as a tie-in to the movie. They plan on releasing it on all consoles it sounds like so be ready sometime in November!
Some Simpsons games have been fun, while some have been pretty bad. I guess it just comes down to who makes the game and how much time and money they put into it. It’s too bad that 4 publishers have already made Simpsons games in the past and one of them haven’t hit the jackpot yet.
Well if you are over in Italy and want to pick up a Playstation3 before launch date you will probably have some good luck. Some retailers began selling the systems yesterday, two days before the street launch date.
Retailer Darty was the first ot break the street date, and once they did the flood gates opened. GameStop says they are trying not to sell any of their consoles until the street date so they won’t be charged any fines but says they might be forced to sell early to make sure they can sell their consoles.
If this happened in the US on a big launch, I would expect some hefty fines for all the retailers that did break the street date. Will this happen over in Italy? Time will only tell I suppose.
The brand new spanking firmware update 1.6 for the Playstation3 is turing out to be one of the updates so for for the system. The most noticble is the ability to download things while playing your games still. You will be able to que up to six items and let them all download while you are playing your favorite game!
This is a great update that should have came with the system at launch. It is one thing that I use on a regular basis when download demos off of XBOX Live.
Analysts have long been rumoring a price drop for the Playstation3 due to lack of sales and the hefty price at launch. Now Goldman Sachs analyst Yuji Fujimori predicts that Sony will drop the price of the PS3 by $100 dollars this October.
I think dropping the 60GB model down to the $500 range will sell more consoles for sure, but just how many are we talking about. Most of the diehard Playstation fans have already bought their consoles, so Sony needs to cater the middle class families that don’t have one yet. Offer a decent bundle for a nice price, or atleast include a few controllers with it instead of one would work well.
What do you all think about a Playstation3 price drop? Would you run out and buy a 60GB model for say $500?

If you were planning on buying a 20GB Playstation3 from BestBuy you better look else where. BestBuy has announced that they are going to discontinue the 20GB version soon. Larger retailers are making more profit and selling more of the 60GB versions so this isn’t really bigtime news.
I’m pretty sure any gamer would rather have the 60GB version for only $100 more anyways. What do you all think? Are you a fan of the 20GB or 60GB Playstation3?
Sega has revealed more Rally Revo goodness, including new screenshots and a new release date. Sega Rally Revo can be thought of as a more “realistic” MotorStorm and will include eight real-world locales. Each track will feature real-time environment deformation — it’s something that Sega promises will keep every race as fresh as your first spin around each course.
As with past Sega racers, you can expect plenty of tweaking and customization options. Gearheads can spend as much time in the garage as they do on the dirt/asphalt. Look for this one later than expected — sometime in the generic “Fall 2007″ timeframe.

Whether you’re a Star Wars fan or not, you probably know the basics of the story behind that galaxy far, far away in events taking place a long time ago. That’s where the newest game enters based on that galaxy: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed takes place after Episode III, involving Darth Vader nominating you as his apprentice. Since this is supposed to be the “next big thing” in the Star Wars story, George Lucas himself is getting his grubby paws into the game as much as possible.
Anyway, the game is shaping up to be pretty brilliant. Fantastic lighting (and lightning) effects, incredibly emotional characters (above and beyond anything achieved in the latest three movies!), gorgeous worlds… this game is looking damn good. Hopefully the story will hold up, too. We’re not going to go into what IGN covers in their preview — it’s simply too long and everything too important to summarize, but if you take the time to read it, you’ll get pumped too. Might be the first Star Wars game I’ll actually purchase since the N64 Shadows of the Empire. That game was awesome.
